Hello to all...

Everything was fine and normal....

Now all of a sudden Safari and IE won't load my website. (www.AudioSourceMastering.com) Everyone else can see it fine. The AOL application on my computer will load the site just fine. Why won't IE or Safari? They were. Nothing has been added or changed. I can surf and see all other internet sites etc. Just not www.AudioSourceMastering.com. Says server not found.

I haved contaced my host...she says its all good on her end. Contacted sprint..they say all good. She can acces my site for home and work. Friends get to it just fine. So obviously its just my computer, just my IE & safari. ??

So in a nut shell...... My FTP and site (all on the same host) will not come up in Safari and IE. FTP will not come up in ( Transmit ftp program) either. All my other FTP saved sites are just fine. It just won't log onto my host server?

Ok I think I made it clear? NO firewalls.... no routers etc... just staight lines.

I have sprint highspeed DSL, OSX 10.3.9, safari 1.3.2, IE 5.2

check your browsers restricted sites to make sure they aren't listing it. Thats the only thing I can think of that would cause that to happen.

THanks Dragon..... did it.... that was an easy one..... but still no go.....

WHY? This has got to be the weirdest thing ever......

Safari& IE won't view a website!! no restrictions no blocks...no firewalll, etc blah. Since my first post I have even upgraded the system to TIGER 10.4 still no go!!!!!!!!!!!!!

have you tried an IE repair and a reinstall of Safari??

If not hat would be the next thing I would try.

Another option is putting the site name in your host file and seeing if you can access it with them.

Yep....

I upgraded the system.... clean installed Tiger 10.4 on an extra drive...(from 10.3.9)!! Brand new applications/system and still no go.

Now Im not sure what you mean by putting my site name in my host file?? Can you explain.

the host file is a way to tell the computer where it can work. for example there are programs out there that can automatically set your host file to block certain IP address. This is also a good way to make sure you can access certain sites. follow the steps below to access the host file, then add your website to the file, close it out and see if it works. in order to use this process you will need to know the IP address for your web host.
If you have a large listing of ip address in there that look like the following.

"*204.11.246.1 www.example.com"

Then those files are blocked. check to make sure your website isn't included in those.


To find the hosts file in OS X's graphical interface:1. Open Finder.

2. In the Go menu, select "Go to Folder"

3. Type /etc for the folder name.

4. In the list of files that appears, you should find hosts. Double click it to open it in a text editor.

5. The format of the file is: "204.11.246.1 www.example.com".
last but not least, when you contacted your host about this, did you ask them to make sure you weren't flagged by their firewall. If for some reason your home IP was flagged that can prevent you from going to your site.
