with the help of one of the staff members in the malware section of geeks to go i was able to get rid of Malware, but then my WMP stopped working the browser, it works fine off line, even if i take something from the web and play it offline it works but its just the browser. In Mozilla FireFox it says cannot create Direct Player, in IE it just shows up as a box with a red x in the corner, now i've uninstalled and reinstalled WMP10 but 9 is a bit harder some how its really in my system or something, i'd appreciate any help i could get :tazz:

Java wasn't working in IE even after i updated but in Firefox its fine just theWMP

another thing to try is uninstalling windows media player and deleting the following directory c:\program files\windows media player\ and reinstalling wmp with the newest version.

ok at this stage then it might be quicker and more cost effective for you to bite the bullet, backup your docs and emails and reinstall the os, try a repair install first (theres loads of good instructions on how to do this on the net), if that doesnt work then format and reinstall windows.

wait a second.....where are we with this

Did you delete c:\program files\windows media player earlier (should have renamed--never delete until all is well)

And what do you mean that you deleted everything having to do with WMP from your system? How did you do that?

i don't have the disk to reinstall Windows

and hp thought it would be brilliant to instead of giving you your reformat disc to make all the information in the d drive aka the System Recovery Drive

c:\program files\windows media player earlier (should have renamed--never delete until all is well)

this file doesn' exist according to my computer

alrite so i uninstalled WMP10 and then WMP9 which i got from the update, oddly though in the WMP folder in program files everytime i delete the WMP icon which is the last bit of WMP--the program---it'll go away for a second in which case the program won't work showing me its all gone but like 5 seconds later it pops up again and the program works fine
