talk about sending him on a wild goose chase. If the system is crashing with a "blue screen" it will contain usefull information. Its that info at the top that we need. it will say something like stop: 0x00000050 with a brief description following it.

If the system reboots because of it and you don't have time to read the message then right click on "my computer", go to properties. go to the advanced tab the under "startup and recovery" click the settings button. deselect the option to automatically restart.

Yes I know it's called the blue screen of death and if you read my first post you'd know what the error was on top. Anyways, I think I figured out the problem, the way my desk is setup, there is a special place for the PC and it is surrounded by walls with many air holes, but I think it is still too hot for the PC, so I took it out a couple days ago and no errors have come since, so hopefully that is the solution.

excellent. Glad to hear that. Unless you have good thermal readings (through software or hw) it can be hard to diagnose it.

For good measure, you might also want to disable any anitvirus and anti spyware programs you might have running. I know for a fact CSS will occaisionaly mega lag and even lock up when those are running.

Oh, I don't play CSS, although I want to. I've never played it, I just play 1.6.

You should play CSS its pretty amazing, the new maps have HDR lighting which is amazing, and they have a choice of your player model now which is great.

Man I wish I wouldve seen this post when you posted it. You shouldve had NO problems running 1.6 with your geforce4 integrated. I used run 1.6 on a geforce 3, ran just fine with a frame rate up to 60 on some maps. After I read about halfway through it, it sounded like it was overheating, starjax was right on the money. Another few ingame cs features you might want to check are cl_updaterate, cmd_updaterate. Set cmd rate to 100 and cl_updaterate to about 40 (try different settings to try to eliminate choke and loss). Some other useful console commands - net_graph 3, there 4 different net_graph's 1-4 find the one you like. Then there is net_graphpos 5 moves your netgraph to the lower lefthand side of the screen. hud_fastswitch 1 - weapon fast switch, another is stopsound this disables all ambient sounds or activated sounds liek the garage door in cs_office (I actually have it bound to a key). Hope that helps.

Yes, people tell me it sucks, but I think I would like it. The more realistic it gets, the funner it'll be. They should make it so if you shoot someones leg they start limping and stuff, that would be sweet.

Yes thanks pzero. The overheated was for the errors I received AFTER I replaced the video card, the video card did help a good deal though. Before I replaced the video card, the PC wasn't in the place where it can overheat.

Now that it is out of that place, I still occasionally get errors but very rarely. The only problem I have with CS now is this really annoying FPS spike. I turned vertical sync off to get a 100 FPS, but every once in a while, for 1-3 min intervals, the FPS will just go down to 20, and 20 FPS is really [bleep] annoying and hard to play with. So if anyone knows a solution to that, that'd be cool.

People who say it sucks are elitist they made it so it would play the same as all the other counterstrikes gameplay is the same it just looks better and you get all the same maps as well. If you get shot you do slow down at least you used to, they might add some better dynamic damage to the game when they release the new HL2 installment.

I would leave vsync on 100FPS looks identical to 50FPS and vsync makes the image more stable, your eye can only detect about 25fps(your television operates at 24FPS by default. If it doesnt happen using vsysnc use vsync.

The thing is, when I turned vsync off and FPS changed to a 100, I felt a big difference. I'm not your average CS player, I play scoutzknivez mostly, and for that, you must strafe and move around in the air frequently, so I think it helps. But I'll turn it off and see if the difference goes away. And what is vsysnc?
