I have just re-installed windows fully and was wondering why the activate windows dialog box or balloon hint has not appeared in windows, telling me that i should activate windows within 30 days.

how did you reinstall it? where did you get the copy of xp?

go to start > run > accessories > system tools > activate windows...what does it say?

formatted the whole hard drive except one partition and then installed from the recovery disk that came with my PC and the activate windows is not there.

ah..so this is an oem RECOVERY CD from the manufacturer specifically for this machine...not an actual xp cd.....those are pre-activated..so you won't get the activation jazz...is this the first timeyou've done this process?

for this computer yes, but i am having a lot of problems, everything is really slow and when i scroll down pages they dont scroll like they used to the flash then appear moved down a bit.

it is just a normal Microsoft mouse but i also have lots of spyware already and a virus and all the webpages are slow so it is taking forever to find a free virus protector.

Please go to the malware forum in my signature and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
