Hello everybody,
I have a problem that I cant seem to figure out. I have cable based internet with download speeds of up to 400/kbps. But for some unknown reason my cpu will only download at 75-100/kbps. :tazz: I have run spybot S&D, ad-aware SE and I have Trend Microsoft internet security doing daily updates and scans for viruses. As far as I can tele my cpu is clean. I checked in start/run/cmd/ipconfig and found that I had two ip addresses could this have an effect on download speeds? If so how would I go about changing the ipconfig?

Please Help me I am totally baffeled by this ;) :woot:

Here's how to post a Hijack This log

Download "HijackThis" here
When downloading, choose "save to disk" and NOT open!

Now create a new folder for it, C:\Hijackthis, for example.
After unzipping the file. to C:\Hijack This, you'll end up with the file itself, which is Hijackthis.exe, and that's the one you'll need to doubleclick.'

When the program launches, hit the "Scan and save log" button
Press that, and save the log anywhere you like.

Now if you doubleclick the log file.Go to Edit > Select all, then to Edit > copy.
Now you've copied the entire text to the Windows Clipboard (this happens behind your back.)

Next, go back to this forum thread, and click "Add Reply".
In an empty area click your RIGHT mouse button, and choose 'Paste' from the context menu.
There's your Hijack This log.

ok here goes :woot:

I ran PandaActive Scan first it took 2 & 1/2 hours to compete scan and it found 21 total infected files of which it could only disinfect 2. It did not give me a log as to which files it could or could not disinfect. :tazz:

Second I ran symantic which found one piece of adware. The file path is listed here
c:\windows\system32\appsys.exe is infected with Adware.Istbar

Third I reran Spybot S & D which found only one prob with five entries
DSOExploit- with five entries (note every time i do this scan it finds these same entries when i have it fix them it says they were fixed successfully, but if I turn around and do scan again they are there again.)

fourth I ran anti-trojan which took over and hour to complete and it found zero trojans.

I have followed everything on your list exatly as you described but was unable to use some of the programs u listed I was limited as to what I could use.

My CPU is still downloading at rates that are far below average for my internet service. When I start download it is about 140/kbps but quickly falls to about 75/kbps. ;)

Thank You for helping me in this matter I fear I may have to purchase a new CPU

OK here goes,
I deleted files listed including "scagent.exe" file with HJT. When I rebooted in safe mode i could not find the files listed using the paths or using the search for file mode. When I reran HJT the "scagent" file was still there after several attemps of deleting this file I still had no luck. I did some research on it and it said it was a "virus like" file that disquised itself as a system process file, and that they are very hard to get rid of. I ran acouple of virus scans from selected sites and they found only a couple of probs and they deleted. I also ran my Trend Microsoft Internet Security Virus Protection program and it found only 1 and was able to delete it. I also ran my adaware SE and it found 2 malware that I was able to delete. I then ran my Spybot S&D and it found the same five entries of DSOExploit, only.

My computer is running at same speed as before about 70-100/kbps for downloads.

My new HJT log is below

I then ran my Spybot S&D and it found the same five entries of DSOExploit, only.

This is just a bug.

Download Killbox.zip

Extract it from the zip file then double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. In the 'Paste Full Path of File to Delete' box, copy and paste this entry: C:\WINDOWS\system32\scagent.exe
Then click delete on reboot.

Close all programs down, leaving only HijackThis running.
Place a check against the following items:

O23 - Service: Security Agent (scagent) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\scagent.exe" start (file missing)

Then reboot and post another log.

When I put file path C:\WINDOWS\system32\scagent.exe in box and have it set to delete on reboot. It pops up an error message when i try and delete it. After it says "verifying regertries" it says "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" I reran HJT and heres my new log.

Well les try this,

Download the trial version of TDS-3
Install it, but do not launch it yet

Update it hereright click, select "save as"

Save it to the directory where you installed TDS-3, overwriting the previous radius.td3.

Then launch TDS-3. in the top bar of tds window click system testing> full system scan.
detections will appear in the lower pane of tds window. after the scan is finished ( it'll take a while )
right click the list> select save as txt. save it and post the contents of the scandump.txt here.

After posting the scandump go ahead and right click the list of detections again. this time select delete!
Only delete those with positive identification.

Eagle:

What's the deal with "C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Internet Security\temp\aubin\patch.exe"

Isn't that a trademark of the Netbus Virus?

What's the deal with "C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\Internet Security\temp\aubin\patch.exe"

I belive that you would see some thing like

O4 - HKLM\..\Run:( filename)C:\WINDOWS\patch.exe

In the hijack this log but this would not be the first time I was wrong :tazz:
