Final Fantasy XI CD ROM Recognition Problem

Hi. We are trying to install FFXI on our computer, but it is not recognizing that there is a CD ROM in our drive. The CD ROM works on other computers and the computer recognizes other CD ROMs, so we don't know what's going on.

every once in a while you will get a cd that is slightly warped and pcs with inferior cd-rom drives will not read them

Now, here's the tricky part...

first, legally you are only entitled to install a program on one machine...to install it on multiple machines is technically pirating

second, copying CDs can be difficult. they are often copyprotected.

If you remove the software form the other machines, and copy the cd (if possible) to a new CD, odds are that you will be able to install it.

Hello leftyfreak and welcome to G2G!

You could try updating a firmware of the drive. Firmware updates are available from the manufacturers website.
