yes i still have the installation file for AVG. but i doubt that the anti virus software is the problem. the shutdown problem existed before i even installed my AVG antivirus.

is it giving you any errors at shutdown? or is it just locking up? does it do it..EVERY time or just some of the time? after one of the lockup's get back into windows and do this
start > run, type
eventvwr.msc
<enter>
Look under systems and applications for items with red Xs that happened at the SAME time as your problem...list them here.

(1)There are no errors at shutdown...(2) it just locks up. the machine stops making noise, as if it has shut down down, but i still have the "windows is shutting down...." message on screen. (3) it happens every time
There is 1 red X under Appplication....Source:MsiInstaller
There are 42 red X's under System.....Source: Service Control Manager (9)
Source: acpiec (1)
Source: cdrom (31)
Source: Setup(1)
All happened at different times on different dates.
I cant determine which Red X's happened at the same time as my problem, as my problem happens all the time and i dont have a record.
