System is;
2.3ghz, 512m ram
W98, two monitors.

The computer freezes after not being used for ? amount of time.
Not sure how long it takes before it freezes.
Will try to time it next time.

Only option is to press the 'Restart' button.

Any idea where to begin to solve this?

I do not know if this will apply. I have a old H-P vectra that does the same thing. It would'nt come back up after sitting a while. I tried setting everything in windows power management to none which didnt help. I then went into the bios and disabled all its power management and still the same thing would happen. I thought it could be "wake on lan" or some other setting in the bios and disabled everything i could find to no avail. You might try setting these in your computer for they may work on yours. I made a mistake one day of not hitting the power button long enough to shut the H-P down and windows came right back up. I have since then started to just blip the power button once to bring windows back up. It works like a charm everytime.
