I am so very sorry to hear of your daughter's intense loss...I lost my best friend, Cindy, when I was 16 to a drunk driver and have been in that "hole".... All i can say is just be there...hug her when she needs one...listen when she needs to be heard... hold her up when she feels like falling down...I am 50 years old now...and the memory of my best friend is always with me. I chose to offer this song to you...if you can disassociate it from Pearl Harbour....you can apply it to the love of a friend....and she will be with you forever. Make her proud. Godspeed to you both ~ After all these years I can truly feel that pain/your pain. I was the last, of a group of friends, that saw my best friend alive...I regretted all the things I never said to her...and can only hope that she already knew.
Faith Hill
There You'll Be
When I think back
On these times
And the dreams
We left behind
I'll be glad 'cause
I was blessed to get
To have you in my life
When I look back
On these days
I'll look and see your face
You were right there for me
[CHORUS:]
In my dreams
I'll always see your soul
Above the sky
In my heart
There always be a place
For you for all my life
I'll keep a part
Of you with me
And everywhere I am
There you'll be
Well you showed me
How it feels
To feel the sky
Within my reach
And I always
Will remember all
The strength you
Gave to me
Your love made me
Make it through
Oh, I owe so much to you
You were right there for me
[Repeat chorus]
'Cause I always saw in you
My light, my strength
And I want to thank you
Now for all the ways
You were right there for me
You were right there for me
For always

Thank you all SO much for all the support and suggestions. I have made all the choices now, and everything for her is finished. I printed the lyrics to all the songs, burned the cd...and even printed a bunch of poems for her. I also wrote her a letter. We cried together when I gave it to her, but I think it was a bit of a 'healing' cry.
Thanks so much again for your help.

Hey Kat
Its a fantastic gesture on you behalf but I guess i'm a little too late on this one. However, just in the case the compilation is so popular and there is a demand for volume 2 check out a few of these songs by a couple of aussie artists. I think some of them would be perfect.
Missy Higgins - I'm All for Believing - The Sound of White (2005)
Missy Higgins - The Special Two - The Sound of White (2005)
Alex Lloyd – brand new day - Alex Lloyd (2005)
Alex Lloyd – Never meant to fail - Alex Lloyd (2005)
Alex Lloyd – Lucky star - Black the Sun (1999)
Alex Lloyd – beautiful - Distant Light (2003)

She's doing much better. She still has times where she just starts crying. Evie's death destroyed my daughter. She had the grief, plus the guilt over cancelling out on her at the last minute. Ash was supposed to be WITH Evie when it happened, and cancelled out on her. She has had to deal with that, along with losing her. She has another friend she's gotten really close to in the past month or so, and that has seemed to help her a lot.
Thanks so much for asking. I appreciate it.

Aww poor Ash...heyy...unfortunately Evie's time was up on this earth and Ash can't feel guilty because of that...things happen for a reason. I'm glad shes found another friend. There were 8 of us that used to hang around together and when Cindy died...it was extremely difficult despite the fact that we had each other to hold on to. A little bit of each of us was destroyed that summer. I still feel sad that Cindy never got to live a life but I do know that she would never begrudge the rest of us. It was a long year or so before I could remember all the good times we had without just falling apart ~ its just gonna take some time. Take care Kat! (smiles)
