I did manage to locate a thread about this topic, but I've just scrolled through and cannot find it again.

Same problem that others have had - when I try to delete the second user account (ex-b/f who has now removed what he needs onto his own computer), it hangs and doesn't complete removal. I'm on XP.

I remember the instructions started with hitting F8 to get into safe mode when turning on the computer, but after that.....?

Many thanks!

i would imagine that those instructions probably involved

press f8 during boot and choose safe mode,
when you get to the screen that allows you to select your user press ctrl alt del.
this will bring up the classic logon screen..type administrator as the username and the administrator password for the password (if you don't know this password...try leaving it blank)
now once you're logged in....try deleting the account
