When I try to install some new programs, or try to uninstall a program, I get an error message saying the action could not be completed because I was either running Windows in Safe Mode, or there was a problem with the Windows Installer. It only happens on certain programs, such as trying to update my iPod Software and trying to un-install the trial version of Microsoft Office I had downloaded.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks :tazz:

Hi, do you have SP2 (Service Pack 2) installed. Installing service pack 2 can help you fix your problem.

Thanks for replying.

I used to have it installed, but it wouldn't let me connect to the internet, and I couldn't figure out the settings by myself to change that, so I uninstalled it. When I went to install it again through Microsoft Windows Updates, it said the update failed. I've tried many times again but still it fails and I'm not sure why.
