So for a while my soundcard would work, but no flash video sounds, and no access to the mixer volume, then recently i updated my drivers, still no mixer, so i dled a mixer from the driver site, and voila, i had access to the mixer and even flash video was making sounds, then the NEXT DAY i log on to windows, and it has my modem sound listed as the soundcard again, and the mixer is grey and unaccessable again, any help would be appreciated.

anyhow i got a soundblaster live 24 bit, the newest drivers and the mixer package all from the creative site, so its definitely a windows side issue that keeps saying my modem sound is the soundcard... :tazz:

Allright, i took it out device manager, restarted, installed the drivers and the mixer control, and it worked, (NOT with my Boston speakers{and i have 2 sets i tried} but then 45 minutes later i get this error without even restarting the computer "Bad direct sound driver error code 88780078"

and under soundcard in control panel it has nothing listed as the soundcard just says "no playback devices"

Do you have another card you could try in the machine? It sounds as though your card has gone south on you. Trying a known good card would be the next logical step in troubleshooting this problem.
