Hi,
It there a way to automatically add a machine to a domain? I am trying to find to a way to automatically add a machine to a domain, with the domain name, computer name etc... either prompted for or contained in a text file. So the user does not have to do anything when they get the machine, they turn it on and it goes through a script or somthing similar and puts itself on the domain.

thanks

NETDOM /Domain:MYDOMAIN /user:adminuser /password:apassword MEMBER
	  MYCOMPUTER /JOINDOMAIN
that's technically for nt...but should work for xp as the structure is the same

you could create a batch file that would accomplish this..this will automatically create a computer account in the domain..

i can't find any syntax for changing the machine name from the command line...

do you have individual users adding computers to the domain? usually the IT staff should be doing this as the machine's roll in
