My command line is screwing up or something..HELP

when i enter a command in to the command line it does what i tell it to do but i get no answer to my command in the middel here is am example
c:\ping 127.0.0.1
c:\

it says nothing in between i and that is not just for the ping command it is for all commands that i try to enter. Any help apreciated.

in command prompt type echo what does it say? try echo on make any difference?
