First I'll tell you whats noticeably wrong
Explorer.exe is all jacked up My icons and task bar flash on and off, then after about a minute of that, the icons disappear permanently and the task bar freezes, like a picture, even the clock doesn't change. Hi,
Please uninstall Ask Toolbar since this one is not recommended. It came installed with Spysweeper, but Ask Toolbar has a questionable reputation. Also, your version of Spysweeper, is it only the Antispyware scanner? Or is the Antivirus scanner also included? Did you purchase Spysweeper? Or is it a trial? These are some important things to know.. I see you are running Teatimer. I suggest you to disable it because it can interfere with the changes you'll make on your system. When everything is done and your log is clean again, you can enable it again. If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it. How to disable TeaTimer <== click me for instructions. After you disabled Teatimer, download ResetTeaTimer.bat to your desktop. (In case you use Firefox, rightclick the link and choose "save as"). Doubleclick ResetTeaTimer.bat and let it run. This will only take a few seconds. Also disable Spysweeper because it may interfere with next steps as well... * Download ComboFix from here. **Save it to your desktop** In case you have used Combofix before, please delete the version you are having and redownload it again, because Combofix is being updated everyday. In case your Antivirus or any other realtime scanner is displaying an alert after you downloaded Combofix or while you use Combofix, please disable your scanner and redownload Combofix again. Because some scanners may see some combofix related components as suspicious and block or delete them while there's nothing wrong with them. * Doubleclick combofix.exe Follow the prompts. Note - Your internet connection will be terminated while ComboFix runs. Do Not attempt to re-enable it. Should ComboFix terminate prematurely, restart the computer to restore connectivity. Don't click on the window while the fix is running, because that will cause your system to hang. In case you see a sed.cfexe error with the option to send a report or not, choose "don't send". When finished and after reboot (in case it rebooted), combofix will open again to gather the necessary information for the log. This may take a bit. When done, Combofix will close and a log should open, combofix.txt. Post the contents of this log in your next reply together with a new hijackthislog. The file is 0 bytes, so this means the file is in use (it's loaded under explorer.exe) I see this reference to these random named files a lot in latest Combofix logs, so it could be generated by a part of Combofix and harmless, or it could be malware. Since I want to examine the file, I want you to reupload it, but for that, your explorer.exe should be killed, because otherwise it will be in use again and display as an 0 bytes file. So, to do this, leave this page open for the instructions and reopen a new window with page I asked you to open previously: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/submit-malware.php?channel=8 So you'll have two pages open. This one and the upload page. While these 2 pages are open, open your Taskmanager by holding the buttons CTRL-ALT-DEL together. This will open your taskmanager. Under the processes tab, select the process EXLORER.EXE, rightclick it and select to end the process. Your desktop will disappear, this is normal... this is since you ended explorer.exe Your Internet Explorer will still be open with the two pages. Now, go to the upload page again and copy and paste next line in the field to upload the file again: C:\DOCUME~1\VALUED~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\mehpogxg.dll Then click the send button below. Now since your explorer.exe was ended, the file should get uploaded without any problems. Once the file has been uploaded, in your taskmanager, click the first tab "Applications" on top, hit the "New tasks" button below and type: explorer.exe in the field. This will start your explorer.exe again and your desktop will appear again. |

Hmm, the file is still 0 bytes.
Can you open start > run and type %temp% This will open your temp folder. In there you'll find the file there (mehpogxg.dll). Can you rightclick the file and tell me its properties? Filesize (since I want to know if it's really 0 bytes or not) and if there's something under Company or whatever. there are 5 2 text documents with java in the name another text document called jusched a TMP file that opens with microsoft publisher called nsu68 that is 0 KB and an application called nsu68 that is 147 KB |

Hi,
The file mehpogxg.dll. But don't worry about that anymore. I am sure now that this file is a part of Combofix (Catchme), so it's harmless - I just tested it. It will already be gone now anyway  So no need to search for the file or whatever anymore Let's delete combofix now. To do this, * Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field: ComboFix /u Make sure there's a space between Combofix and / Then hit enter. This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again. QUOTE and so far, my computer is acting like normal. Good to hear Please read my Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.
