Sorry about the delay, had off a few days from work. I d/led the taskbar program, ran it in safe mode, tried to restart in normal mode.. It still took a very long time to load. Eventually showed the task bar and icons, but it seemed to freeze when trying to load/start my anti virus program (enod); I could not click on any icon or the start button.

Background still missing ?
Can you go ahead and let it load to normal mode and then run DSS please I need to see if it will show us whats going on provided you can get to the "Start" Run click on Start, click on Run copy and paste the following in bold in the open window and then click OK "%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /config This will open up DSS configuration click on Check All click Scan DSS will now run again when finished Please post back both logs that open in notepad Main txt and extra txt If will probably take a while to run |

Unfortunately I am still unable to run anything in normal mode for the fact that nothing can be clicked on, ie. Start button, desktop icons. I started it, let it sit for a little under an hour. All it had was the task bar and only half the desktop icons, and the images for the icons were just the generic windows ones, not the .ico's that are set for them. I don't want to get the XP disc and reinstall windows but I think it might be that time. Your thoughts?
