Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE and Save As (in IE it's "Save Target As", in FF it's "Save Link As") to download Silent Runners.

• Save it to the desktop.
• Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
• You will receive a prompt:
  • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
    click NO
• If you receive an error just click OK and double-click it to run it again - sometimes it won't run as it's supposed to the first time but will in subsequent runs.
• You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
• Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.

Please follow the instructions provided, you may want to print out these instructions and use them as a reference.

Please download ewido anti-malware it is a free version of the program.

• Install ewido anti-malware
• When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
  • Install background guard
  • Install scan via context menu
• Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.
• The program will now open to the main screen.
• When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  
• You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
  • Then click on Start Update.
• The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  (the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:

• Click on scanner
• Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
• You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
• Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
• Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report

• Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.

I don't see anything in your silent runner's log or your hijack this log. Can you run spysweeper so I can see the location of this trojan?

since i only have a trial version of spy sweeper it won't give me a log option. it says it found trojan agent winlogonhook. 1 items and 10 traces. the notification came up during the first 20 seconds of scanning the files and folders. scanning disk c.


Is there another program we could try so you will know where my trojan is hiding. If not i can buy spysweeper and try again for the log.

As an example:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe.

That's the problem. Ewido says it can't find the trojan and spysweeper which can find it will not show me where it is as long as i do not subscribe. ( for as far as i know, i could be wrong abut this)

Any ideas on how to track it's location?
