i have windows xp pro in one of drive(80gb(maxtor)+primary master) i m going to install unix solaris too(for learning and never installed it before) thats the thing i m going to do : i want to install unix the other hd(20gb empty(Fujitsu)+secondary master) that i have in my comp.so is it possible to create boot loader group? ....like in same boot loader i want to have (win xp+unix s.) together, and when i turn my comp on i want to get that group option on my screen.. than i can choose unix or winxp to run.. im wondering if its possible... you probablly going to ask why dont you install it in same hd which contains xp ...that hd contain also i have my vs.net in it(which i m trying to learnin too) it takes almost 4hours to install i was trying to install linux in same hd once and i almost lost my system,...so i dont want to take that risk again(ofcourse everything is risk in this lovely planet but )...if i have somebody with me who knows how to do it,than it s ok... thats the reason i m thinking to install unix solaris different hd if there is something goes wrong i ll still want to have main system work.... anyway still smiling and i m so sorry about my poor english too.. i really need you guys opinion, help, and aswers... thanks to everyone from now... |

Afraid I'm in the same boat as you. I also plan to install Solaris, and get under the hood, especially as related to web hosting. At this point I know very little, except for reading the learning curve is pretty steep.

Hi. i'm a beginner who has a strong interst in IT but may wish to pursue a career in this field. I wish to learn a programming language but don't know where to start. I have identified Oracle, C++, SQL, and Unix as possible languages but am seeking advice on which will be the most suitable in terms of ease of learning for a beginner?

hi!!!
first of all i would recomed you to start studing programming logic and designe before you start to work with speciffic programmin language..there is a one good book about it here : http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...=books&n=507846 ofcourse if you dont want to pay for that book you just search for ebook "programming logic and design" through google ... and here is one of them im : http://safari.oreilly.com/JVXSL.asp just make sure that you get enough knowledge about this. and than ; you can start to study any language you desire .. i would recomed you to start with C# , because it s most fresh ,powerful(it takes future of C++ and java..it was born with .net,)and its oop(object oriented programming language) and if you learn how to program in C# in .net that means you can learn asp.net easly, and you can creat professional(real) web page.... you can read about it more from : http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/ http://msdn.microsoft.com/vcsharp/default.aspx also you can program with C++,j#,Vb.net,visual perl...and so on under visual studio... You can get visual studio from here free: http://msdn.microsoft.com/canada/visualstudio/se/ you can learn pure C++ too but it s going to bee tooo difficult for you for self study(because you need to have really good knowledge about memory,i meant that whenever you write single code you have to think about what is going on in memory, blah blah blah...).(i dont recomend it now you can learn it later) but if you just want to play around i would recomend perl than you dont want to sleep during the night you can find perl compiler for windows(i m sure you re using windows): http://www.activestate.com/Products/ActivePerl/ but i again say start with programming logic and design and learn some common algorithm structure .... and register here:and you can ask any question you have http://www.programmersheaven.com/ good luck |
