userinit.exe failed to initialize properley [RESOLVED]

Hi All,

After rebooting my computer today the startup screen appeared and I logged in as myself only to receive the above error message, after pressing ok to continue I was presented with my desktop background but no icons.

I hit ctrl-alt-del and run new task and ran explorer, this fired up my desktop correctly and most stuff appears to be ok except I also get the error message rundll32.exe failed to initialize properley every now and then.

I have run registry clean, windows defender and vundofix all with no joy.

I have attached a hijackthis output and would be grateful for ANY help to fix my dying computer..

Hello

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 onlyDouble-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet.

For more information on the Windows XP Recovery Console read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058.

Once you install the Recovery Console, when you reboot your computer, you'll see the option for the Recovery Console now as well. Don't select Recovery Console as we don't need it. By default, your main OS is selected there. The screen stays for 2 seconds and then it proceeds to load Windows. That is normal.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

Hi,

Many thanks for your reply, but I finally downloaded and ran Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and this seems to have completely fixed all my problems...fingers crossed!!
