Hey,

I want to throw a website on the net, the thing is I don't know what is needed for a stepping stone ?
In order for my website to be fully functional would someone be able to list what I need for it please ?

e.g

Domain name ( www.eg.com )
Website Hosting
E-Mail Hosting ?
Dns ?

Is there anything I'm missing ? btw it's just a simple html webpage.

I don't know if you want ot host it yourself, but there are lots of possibilities, eg:

http://www.domainname.com/

Also depends if you really want to put it online, or just local smile.gif .

Maybe you can find some more information here as well, it's a tutorial:

good luck .

awesome thank you for pointing me in the right direction,

will I need to fiddle around with the settings e.g forwarding and stuff ? I seem to see that a lot. Also I wasn't going to host it, I was thinking of flicking it off to some internet company that offers hosting services. This is my first time so I'm just trying to get a fair idea of the complexity level of what to expect.

I do not know if you mean port forwarding here, but that won't be necessary, the hosting company will provide you with everything you need.

You will just need to setup your website, and build it - possibly from scratch.

I would advise you to look for some decent hosting companies in your area and ask some more information, they should be pleased to help you out smile.gif .

I would recommend you to register yourself with a hosting provider. But, if you're doing a small project, please use 'Pickaweb' for your website. They are more helpful and they have everything you need!

-Free domain name when you choose their 'Webmaster' packages.
-Cpanel Accelerator
-99.9% uptime
-24/7 helpline
-php server parse
-Stable DNS backup and server control
-Firewall and SPAM controle
-ect...

I hope this helps.
