Computer has been acting up lately, both on the internet and on the desktop. It's been having problems opening folders or web pages and then not responding and having to ctrl/alt/del to be able to close the folders/web pages.

Something as simple as going to capital one or espn web pages, of which it has had no problems in the past, lately has been freezing up. Also just opening the control panel right now it froze.

Another big issue of which i think I fixed was a windows update that I had just installed. The windows update was for something for vista and it said it was a necessary update so I did it. Just now though, the computer was unable to load up and I had to reinsert my vista cd to be able to repair the computer and finally after 2-3 attempts it was able to load normally again. I checked the diagnostic report that the restore thing gave and it showed that the cause of the error was the upgrade that I had just installed.

Not sure if i've completely fixed the problem, but it does turn on now.

My real issue is the first paragraph. I'd like to know of some good repair/clean tools that people can think of to run through my computer and somehow allow it to run as it had in the past? Any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks
