This is a problem that I just noticed its not a major problem but its really annoying

Whenever I click the right mouse button on my desktop a hourglass appears and it takes about 20 seconds for a menu to appear
Previously the menu would appear right away

I booted my computer into safemode to see if it would work nomally but when I right clicked on the desktop in safe mode the hourglass appeared and I waited about 3 minutes without anything happening so I decided to restart the computer

does anyone have any suggestions on how I could get it back to normal

this is getting all too common the last week.....

did all this begin after a visit to windows update?

kb908531 is causing all kinds of weird issues for people with HP software and older nvidia drivers....check add/remove control panel and check SHOW UPDATES at the top...is kb908531 present? Uninstall it and see if that helps.
