• Vista users:: Right click on SystemLook.exe, click Run As Administrator

Attached is update.zip file.
Download it to your computer.
Double click on the file to unzip it.
Inside, you'll find update.reg file.
Double click on the file and allow registry merge.

Restart computer.

Hi, I'm being thick - can't find the attached file!

Hi OK done - problem is still there. From a reboot the drive shows up in the main windows 7 window but not in the list on the left. If a disk is inserted it will autorun and the drive then appears in the list on the left named as the disk eg E: EPSON or E: MCAFEE. In the main window the files are listed as files available to be written to the disk. Doing an 'F5' clears this but leaves a file 'desktop configuration settings' showing to be written. Inserting a different disk then shows the files again from the original disk! And they can be used so the window is showing me a cached copy of the files from the disk that have been stored on my hard drive?

Could it be something to do with the pre-instaled cyberlink suite?

One of these may help:
1. Uninstall the drive through Device Manager.
Restart computer. The drive will be automatically reinstalled.

3. Download, and run Restore Missing CD Drive patch
Double click on cdgone.zip to unzip it.
Right click on cdgone.reg, click Merge.
Accept registry merge.
Restart computer.
or...
4. Go to Device Manager, click a "+" sign next to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
You'll see two items:
- ATA Channel0 (or Primary Channel)
- ATA Channel1 (or Secondary Channel)
Right click on each of them, and click Uninstall. Confirm.
Restart Windows. They'll be automatically reinstalled.

Sorry no joy with any of these - I've also uninstalled the bundled cyberlink software with no effect

No worries - it's really odd. In effect the computer seems to copy the contents of the drive to some cache which cannot be cleared without a reboot - so i can insert a CD, eject it and continue to use the files on it by opening the CD drive in windows explorer. I wonder if it has something to do with burning in that I could then insert a blank disk and burn this cache onto it. Could there be a 'burning' folder to which all disks get copied on insert and then windows is displaying that folder to me insead of the contents of a new disk??

Are you saying, that "no refresh" issue shows up only with burning program and it doesn't happen, when you look at CD drive through Windows Explorer?

No - it happens with any disk and i've uninstalled the burning software - i wonder if windows 7 has some native burning application that's gone haywire and so copies any inserted disk to a cache and then directs to a 'burning' folder??
