I don't really know much about computers but I my computer just automatically installed spy falcon 2.0 and I keeop getting messages from my microsoft updates except they didn't sound like the updates normally do. So I came googled it and I found someone with the exact same problem. How do I get rid of it?

Even though you already have smitrem, please download it again as it is constantly being updated.

Download smitRem.exe ©noahdfear, and save the file to your desktop.
Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.

Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.

If you have not already installed Ad-Aware SE 1.06, follow these download and setup instructions, otherwise, check for updates:

Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Close HiJackThis.

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.

The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log along with all others requested in your next reply.

Please locate and delete the following folders/files(if present):

C:\PROGRAM FILES\Toolbar
C:\Program Files\Common files\SearchUpgrader
C:\Program Files\SpyFalcon
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALLUSERS\Desktop\Glophone.lnk

Open Ad-aware and do a full scan. Remove all it finds.

Run Ewido:

• Click on scanner
• Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
• While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
• When it asks if you want to clean the first file, put a check in the lower left corner of the box that says "Perform action on all infections" then choose clean and click OK.
• Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
• Click Save report.
• Save the report .txt file to your desktop.

Close ewido anti-malware.

Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.

Please run another scan with Panda.

Post the contents of the Panda scan report, along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of smitfiles.txt and the Ewido Log by using Add Reply.
Let us know if any problems persist.

Spy Falcon still installs itself on reboot and the warning still pops up. I am also having an added problem with my mozilla. It won't open up it saya that it is currently in sue but it doesn't show up in the task manager or under running processes.

The exact message I get when I try to open mozilla is
Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the exisxting Firefox process, or restart your system.

Please download Symantec's DRM removal tool to your desktop and then double click it. Follow the instructions for removing the rootkit.

Reboot the computer if you aren't prompted to.

Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE and Save As (in IE it's "Save Target As", in FF it's "Save Link As") to download Silent Runners.

• Save it to the desktop.
• Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
• You will receive a prompt:
  • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
    click NO
• If you receive an error just click OK and double-click it to run it again - sometimes it won't run as it's supposed to the first time but will in subsequent runs.
• You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
• Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.

*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

After rebooting, i noticed that spyfalcon no longer shows up on my task bar. However mozilla is still not working so I uninstalled it. I will run Adaware, ewido and panda just to be sure that spy falcon is gone.
