Here is my log file. Could someone please check this? My computer has been slowing down and winfixer has been showing up, registry cleaner popups, and possibly a worm, not sure. Thanks in advance.

Hi cecebe and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

1. You are currently posting your log in double space format which is very difficult for us to analyze. Please post your next ones in single space format.

To remove the double spacing in your log, please do the following:
  • Please go to Start >> Run... and type notepad.exe
  • Hit OK.
  • Now go to Format and uncheck WordWrap.
  • Close Notepad.

2. Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
  • You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
  • When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Regards,

Trevuren

Hi Trevuren,

When I click the "run VundoFix as a task," I wait for it to re-open but it never does. I'm not sure what is wrong. Thanks.

We will use the Recovery Console method:

1. REBOOT the computer using the XP CD.

You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive. Check your system documentation for steps to accessing the BIOS and changing the boot order.

2. When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below:

(This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft Windows XP to run on your computer):

  • To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.
  • To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.
  • To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.
3. You want to press R to enter the Recovery Console.

4. Once the Recovery Console has loaded and you are at a C:> prompt you are going to change the directory and then DELETE the bad file (next step).

5. Type the following and press Enter after each command :

cd c:\windows\system32 (Note the space after "cd")

del rqrro.dll (Note the space after "del")

6. Remove the Windows XP disk.

7. Type exit to restart.

9. After the restart go back into HJT and place a checkmark beside the following items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ADCD30FF-0119-4906-8A8B-D52D1EED044B} -
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rqrro.dlll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: rqrro -

With all windows closed except for HJT, click Fix checked and EXIT the program.

10. Reboot and post a fresh HijackThis! log.

Hi

When I enter recover console, the first question it asks me is: "Which Windows Installation do I want to log onto" or something along those lines.

What do I put? Thanks.

Another Vundo has just popped up. This is not uncommon:

In addition, please run the following:

Please Download the following tool to assist us in diagnosing your problem!
  • Download WinPFind
    • Right Click the Zip Folder and Select "Extract All"
    • Extract it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop
    • Dont do anything with it yet!
  • Reboot into Safe Mode

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

  • Doubleclick WinPFind.exe
    • Click "Start Scan"
    • It will scan the entire System, so please be patient!
    • Once the Scan is Complete
    • Go to the WinPFind folder
    • Locate WinPFind.txt
    • Place those results in the next post!
  • Reboot back to Normal Mode!

Hi Trevuren

The VundoFix file still won't work for me. However, here are the other infomation:

----------------------------
WinPFind:

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

5. Type the following and press Enter after each command :

cd c:\windows\system32 (Note the space after "cd")

del cbaay.dll (Note the space after "del")

6. Remove the Windows XP disk.

7. Type exit to restart.

9. After the restart go back into HJT and place a checkmark beside the following items:

O2 - BHO: RawExecAction Object - {18898424-E3AB-4BA9-8E8D-5434B1CECA75} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\cbaay.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: cbaay - O20 - Winlogon Notify: cbaay - C:\WINDOWS\system32\cbaay.dll (file missing)

With all windows closed except for HJT, click Fix checked and EXIT the program.

10. Reboot and post a fresh HijackThis! log.

Regards

If you haven't already deleted the file in question, please do the following: (This is a new variant and it needs to be analyzed):

Download Submit File Packer

Highlight the entries listed below in bold and right-click,then select Copy.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\cbaay.dll

Then start the file packer program and right click in the white box and select paste to paste the copied file names in the field.

Then press the Continue button.

It will create an archive with these files and a small log on your Desktop that starts with a name like requested-file[date].cab.

Rename this file to cbaay.cab

Then go to:
http://www.atribune....mit-malware.php
and fill in the required fields and browse to the chinger006.cab file on your desktop. Finally click on the Send File button

Hi Trevuren

I already deleted the file, so I didn't download the "Submit File Packer." If I still need to do that, please let me know. I ran Panda Active Scan and it didn't seem to find anything. Here is my latest HiJackThis logfile:

Now please locate and DELETE any files that start with by the following in the C:\Windows\System32\ folder:

rqrro

yaabc

Now post a fresh HJT log for review.

Thanks for trying to submit the file. My bad. I was a bit late getting off the mark on that one.
