Okay it started off as the spyfalcon adware so i ran every thing i could find from spybot and spyweeper then CCleaner and adaware SE (aside from regular Norton). Finally, I used Smitreg to clean that out, but as soon as that was said and done (fixed in safe mode as described in this forum) the slimshield version installed itself and re-installs itself upon reboot. I've run all the aforementioned problems in safe mode and it continues to return. Spysweeper keeps finding trojan-winlogonhook-zlob and several other related things. Even after I get rid of them the problem remains. I did notice a small DOS screen blink for a fraction of a second before the slimshield showed up.

I'm new at this and would appreciate any help i could get.

Your Notepad settings are currently causing you to post logs/reports in double space format which makes it very difficult for us to easily analyze your posts.

I need you to post your log in single space format instead of double space as it currently is.

To remove the double spacing in your log, please do the following:
  • Please go to Start >> Run... and type notepad.exe
  • Hit OK.
  • Now go to Format and uncheck WordWrap.
  • Close Notepad.

Once this change has been completed, please post a fresh HJT log for review.

Regards,

Trevuren

Please print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

1. Please download AproposFix from here:
http://swandog46.gee.../aproposfix.exe

2. Save it to your desktop but Do NOT RUN IT YET.

3. Then please Reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
  • Restart your computer.
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

4. Once in Safe Mode
  • Double-click aproposfix.exe and unzip it to the desktop.
  • Open the aproposfix folder on your desktop
  • Run RunThis.bat.
  • Follow the prompts.
5. When the tool is finished
  • Reboot back into normal mode
  • Post a new HijackThis log, along with the entire contents of the log.txt file in the aproposfix folder.
Regards,

Trevuren

Here's the latest batch of data. Thanks again. I feel like something I may have done something wrong with the apropos. I unzipped and started the run this in safe mode as you requested, but there weren't really any prompts to follow and the process lasted less than a second. But here it is anyway. Let me know if I did something wrong. Thanks Trevuren.

Make double sure to disable Spybot's Tea Timer for now, as it can interfere with the fixing of problems.

Open Spybot and and make sure you are in Advanced mode (check it in the 'Mode' menu). Go to the Tools section and click resident and then uncheck the box for Tea Timer.

Then, REBOOT

We must disable Spy Sweeper for it may interfere with our fix

To disable SpySweeper:
  • Open SpySweeper, click >Options over to the left then >program options >Uncheck "load at windows startup".
  • Over to the left, click "shields" and uncheck all there.
  • Uncheck "home page shield".
  • Uncheck 'automaticly restore default without notifiction

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.
  • First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:
    • Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
    • Choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
    • Uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
    • Close the window with ok
  • Please RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.

  • Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LanzarT2006] "C:\DOCUME~1\Edwin\LOCALS~1\Temp\{4A0DF290-CD66-414B-AE39-150B64E2B8D7}\{98032D6F-3EE6-4646-B68C-40BF012AC89B}\..\..\T2006tmp\Install.exe" /SETUP:"/l0x0009"
    O16 - DPF: {74CD40EA-EF77-4BAD-808A-B5982DA73F20} (YazzleActiveX Control) - http://yax-download.....cab?refid=1123
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: winexy32 - winexy32.dll (file missing)

  • Now with all the items selected, and all windows closed except for HJT, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window.

  • Reboot Your System in Safe Mode

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

    • Restart the computer.
    • As soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
    • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
    • Press Enter.
  • Using Windows Explorer, locate the following folder, and DELETEit (if still present):

C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\Edwin\LOCALS~1\Temp\{4A0DF290-CD66-414B-AE39-150B64E2B8D7}<==Folder and all its content.

  • Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

  • Finally, RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everything looks now.

Removal Instructions:Step 1:
  • Print out these instructions as we will need to close every window that is open later in the fix.
  • Download FixSF.reg to your desktop by right clicking on the following link and then selecting Save Link As or Save File as, depending on your browser.
    • Confirm that the file FixSF.reg now resides on your desktop as we will need it later.
  • Download smitRem.exe ©noahdfear, and save the file to your desktop.
    • Double click on the file to extract it to it's own folder on the desktop.
    • If you look on your desktop you will now see a folder called smitRem.
  • Go to your desktop and double click on the FixSF.reg file that you downloaded earlier. When it asks if you would like to merge the information, press the Yes button and then the OK button.
Step 2:
  • Next, please reboot your computer into SafeMode by doing the following:
    • Restart your computer.
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
    • When you are at the logon prompt, log in as an Administrator.
  • When your computer has started in SafeMode and you see the desktop.
  • Click on Start > Control Panel > Double-click on the Add or Remove Programs icon.
  • Find the entry for SpyFalcon and double-click on it. Follow the prompts to uninstall the program, but do not allow it to reboot the computer if it asks.
  • Delete the following files and folders (Do not be concerned if this folder does not exist):
    • C:\Windows\System32\dxmpp.dll <-- File
    • C:\Windows\System32\ginuerep.dll <-- File
    • C:\Program Files\SpyFalcon\ <-- Folder
  • Close all Windows.
Step 3:
  • Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
  • If there is an uninstaller present for an infection that smitRem removes it will start this uninstaller.
  • Simply click on the Uninstall button and allow the uninstaller to finish. When it is completed, it will close automatically and smitRem will prompt you to continue. Now you should press any key to continue.
  • Wait for the tool to complete and Disk Cleanup to finish.
  • The tool will create a log named smitfiles.txt in the root of your drive, eg; Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed.
  • Next go to Control Panel click Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop > Web > Uncheck "Security Info" if present.
Step 4:
  • Reboot your system back into Normal Mode and perform an online scan with Panda ActiveScan
    • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button.
    • A new window will open...click the Check Now button.[list]
    • Enter your Country
    • Enter your State/Province
    • Enter your e-mail address and click send
    • Select either Home User or Company
    • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When the download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
Post the contents of the Panda ActiveScan report, along with a new HijackThis Log, the contents of smitfiles.txt by using Add Reply.

I've done all that before except for the pandascan because it came up with an error conflicting with "sysnet." It refused to finish.
