My new build is operating. But I belatedly discovered that my memory choice may not have been optimal. So I have a question regarding relative performance. I have a MSI K8N Neo4 platinum mobo that I have filled with 2 1GB sticks of Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2 memory. In that configuration, the speed is recocognized as 333 and single channel. If I had filled all 4 slots with single sided 512MB sticks I would have still had 2 GB of memory but it would have functioned as 400 and dual channel.

I don't have enough experience to know if this would make a notable perfromance difference for no-gaming use. I just do lots of number crunching with business applicaitons? What do you think? I have a friend getting ready to build, he might be interested buying the 2 GB for a reasonable cost.

Youve got it the wrong way round, with 4 sticks it would be 333 with two it should be 400. What you have probably done is put the memory in the wrong slots, it needs to be in dimm 1 and dimm2 so those are two closest to the CPU one is green one is purple, according to the manual it will be DDR333 if and only if you place two dual channel memory sticks in dimm1 and dimm3.
