Hi guys,

My computer and IE recently underwent some major damage from some type of spyware/malware my sister accidentally accepted. One of the first things that happened, in addition to getting insane amounts of popups and installed programs, was that my ps/2 mouse stopped functioning. Weirdest thing I've ever seen. I bought a USB mouse from Big Lots and it worked fine, then went to your site and followed your antispyware regimen along with Microsoft's internet antispyware beta, and I think everything is finally cleaned up. So THANK YOU for that. I would still LOVE to post a Hijack this log though, if any of you guys have time to take a look just to be sure.

The only major problem I have left is that my system cannot find/recognize my ps/2 mouse. I've even actually gone to install new hardware, and there are NO mouse devices listed whatsoever. I do not want to keep this expensive plug and play USB mouse, so any suggestions you smart people have are more than welcomed. Aside from getting the service pack updates, Microsoft website wasn't too helpful, I don't even know where I put my XP cd's, so I'm really lost. Anything you guys know please tell me. Sadly no one helped me, but I did manage to fully restore my system. Since this is getting a lot of views, I'll go ahead and post the solution, which was actually simple. First, for whatever I had wrong from malware, I followed this sites recommendations (step by step) for complete malware removal. I then used MS's antispyware beta which actually found 3 more occurances of malware. To restore the mouse, and this is only useful if you have a GE mouse, I simply installed the driver which can only be found on an obscure GE subsidiary website, which you can google as Jasco ( I don't have GTG permission to link sites). Well anyway, thanks for your help in getting the malware off, even though I wasn't responded to, this is still a great resource. Thanks.
