Want to put 2005 on, but needed to take 2003 off 1st. When using uninstaller for 03, find out 05 won't load because of another version still being used. When I went into add/remove programs, there still shows Norton. but no removal button only change button. After going on symantec website and printing the documents of taking it off manually, step by step, still cannot get 05 to work. When I put Norton cd in, won't pop up to go thru install procedures, but when I go in to my computer and then to add/remove and click on add new programs it will pop up the Norton 2005,but then a bunch of small windows will filter down diagonally on my pc asking if I am sure you want to exit..yes or no. Probably about 8-10 boxes and still keeps trying to put more up but can't because there is no more room on the pc and the hour glass is still trying to work and boxes are flickering so I cant
't click on yes or no. After a bit it will finally just go back to last page in add programs. Another puzzling thing is when type in www.symantec.com it tells me page cannot be displayed, but any other sites will come up. Also, when I was in zd.net and went to downloads, then to utilities, utilities categories, and tried to click on Antivirus it knocks me right back to my desktop. Won't let me get into this page either. Puzzles me because it seems I can't get into any sites that has anything to do with antivirus subjects along with getting the program loaded. Please help.
Thank You

just curious, I am running Norton System Works 2004 and since the virus update is about to expire, I am considering upgrading to 2005. I have always managed to get a better deal by doing this with all of the rebates vs paying for a virus update subscription. I have done this previously, I believe from 2003 to 2004 and did not have any problem. I don't remember that I had to remove 2003 in order to install 2004. As I recall, all I had to do was shut down Norton 2003, then installed 2004. When you initially attempted the install, did you have 2003 running or was it shut down?

Could not get the Norton 2005 to work, I finally had to take it in and have someone fix it. I don't know what he did to get it to work. End up costing me $30. Soory I can't be of more help.

Well, I got Norton System Works 2005, installed on two computers, one AMD64 with Windows XP Pro SP2, the other a AMD 1Gzh Athlon with Windows 2000 Pro SP4, anti virus is ok. All is well, and with the rebates, free.
