New computer - no Internet

Hi,

I just purchased a new computer, but i'm having trouble connecting to the Internet. My old computer connected fine thru the very same broadband ethernet cable. Do i have to configure my new computer or something?

Thanks. Hope someone can help.

could you describe your physical setup a little better for us?
also elaborate on what "having trouble connecting to the Internet" means
