I need help once again. I'm working on setting up a computer to run dual boot with windows XP on the top drive and linux 7.3 on the bottom drive. I installed windows and linux with no problem. Both operating systems will boot. Only problem is once you boot to linux and get the login screen, the system won't take the password I set up when I installed linux. Authentication failed is what it says. I must be setting up the operating system wrong when I install, but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong and I'm tired of installing. I've installed 3 times trying to figure out how to get it to work. Can someone please help?

You can boot to rescue mode using the CD and the check the /etc/passwd file to make sure that your additional account was created.

I assume you created an additional account, other than the root account.

You can also try to press "ctrl-alt-F1" to get to a dumb terminal login and try to login using the root account and any other account that you have. I don't remember if RH7.3 limited logins from the windowing system, it might not allow root to login.
