Screw "installing the router" You dont need to do that, thats just extra junk that will bog down your computer. You should just be able to plug your computer into the router and it work. Sounds like you might be having problems with your network card. Its not disabled by any chance is it?

Go to Control Panel, Network Connections. If there is a network connection listed then right click it and click properties. Next click the "Install" button and select "Protocol" from the list. Click the "Add" button. Select "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) from the list and install it. You may need your XP disk. Also before doing this check to see if it is already installed in the list before clicking the "Install" button right after clicking properties. If it is then highlight it and click "Uninstall" then install it again.

Yes, XP should automatically recognize it and install it. Try opening your case, and remove it. Reboot. Shut down the computer, place the card back in and reboot. Then if XP doesn't recognize it you probably need a new card. Maybe not though, we can try to search for drivers. Write down any words, numbers, etc.. that you can find on the card before replacing it.

What is the make and model of your computer? If we get that then we should be able to download the network drivers for that particular pc.

Well you're on the net right now... Just copy them to a disk, cd, thumb drive, etc... Then bring them to the pc. Here's the driver's download page for your MB.
