When I try to start windows I get this error:

Cannot find WIN.COM, unable to continue loading Windows

The microsoft site said to go into the windows folder, put in the CD and simple replace to rename a file... But I can't even get my computer to start.

I tried to reinstall windows (never really did it before...) and it keeps bringing me to the part where I can't do anything else but type 'help' into the computer and press enter to go to that page...but it won't go any farther...

I have a 'Windows 98 Start Up with cd-rom support' 3 and a half inch floppy and a 'Microsoft Windows98' cd.

I really don't know what to do with them because once it goes so far as checking and after the dianositics are succufully installed it just says type help and press enter...which brings me no where and I just don't know how to get this to work. :whistling: Feel soo dumb.

I'm looking around and I can't find any help on this... Thought I'd ask you guys. Any help will be a godsend.

Thank you for your time.

Edit:

I reformated and am trying to install windows and I'm at the 'preparing dictionary' screen and the 'checkin for available disk space' is at 61% and up top is asking for 'Insert diskette for drive B: and press any key when ready' but I don't have a drive B: at all... So... what can I do?

Did you set it to boot from the CD ROM Drive first and start with the 98 CD

Yes, I did and it's gone that far and now wants that diskette for a mystery B drive.

EDIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for bringing up BIOS, Kieth!!!!!!!!!!! I checked through and it didn't have my A drive listed as there... So I put it on and now I'm getting the next page for my setup!!! :help: Thanks for a nudge in the right direction man!!! :whistling:
