Ok, I am looking for a program that will tell me if I bootup with it on a cd, if either the ram or the harddrive are wonkey.

Example: if you were given a laptop or desktop that didn't boot up.

Just wondering if I am going about this type of problem in the right way, and, or if there are other ways of addressing this problem.

Thanks.

Memtest and prime 95 on a bootable CD would do it, i think the "ultimate boot CD" also has utilities to that effect theres lots of things like that you just need to make them into a bootable disk.

However if a laptop doesnt boot then you cant do any diagnostics on that system you need to first get it to boot before you can load and utilities like a bootable utility CD or live CD. Without RAM a PC wont do anything, most will work fine without a HDD. They just wont have an OS to load from HDD so boot priorites for CD and FDD need to be set.

Thanks, I will gooble for the Ultimate boot cd and if it is free, I will after downloading it, post the link here for others.

Another problem, I don't have Nero on my 6gb comp, is there a way burn the ISO with XP native burner making it bootable.
