I think I managed to remove Spyware Quake using ewido and ad-aware, and I believe Norton was able to delete Pest Trap, but I just want to make sure my computer is clean before updating to SP2 (I recently formatted and reinstalled Windows). Also, I removed Spyware Quake with ad-aware previously, but upon restarting the computer, it was back again. I have also posted a Panda ActiveScan log...it seems that Spyware Quake is still on my computer (?).

Thanks in advance.

cosmicletdown,

Hi, and welcome to Geeks to Go. If possible, I'd like you to try and update to at least Service Pack 1a - this will give you some additional protection until we get you clean.

Apply the update, and reboot.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlog...processutil.htm

Finally, I'd like you to rename hijackthis.exe to hjt.exe, and rescan after it's been renamed. I believe you many have an infection that is hiding from hijackthis also.

Post the rapport.txt and the new hijackthis log in your reply.

Thanks,

sari
