Hi,

In the past when I've created a Web Page with FrontPage I would be able to save it with pictures, etc. Now it saves it like a regular web page. What could I be doing wrong?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi cFosWinz and welcome to Geeks to Go!

Could you please clarify "saves like a regular web page". I'm not understanding what you are meaning here.

I asked that because I use Frontpage myself all the time.

Tell us how you are saving your files.

Thanks

Jrenter2,

Thanks for your reply. Much appreciated.

Save as 1:

Save_AS.jpg

Save as 2:

Save_AS_2.jpg

Folder: no pictures, etc.

Save_AS_3.jpg

Your help would be appreciated.

Thanks a million

Hi cFosWinz,

Thanks for the images, that helps understand much better. While I am looking into something...what version of Frontpage do you have?

Also, I don't know how long this has been going on for you, but, have you tried a "quick" simple fix...Go up to Help, and click on Detect and Repair.

If settings get corrupted for one reason or another, not by a virus though, ...that will set things back to normal.

Jrenter2,

Thanks for your reply.

It didn't work for me. I will try to uninstall and reinstall again. Lets see what happens.

Sorry, I have FrontPage 2003.

Thanks again for your help.

Hi cFosWinz,

I have noticed in your images that after you hit the SAVE AS, the next image that should come up is the Save Embedded Files screen.

Normally, when creating a web or single page, if you insert your images and they are in a relative location, FP will leave them in their respective folder and reference the image URL to that folder. This is turn will not bring up the Embedded File screen to allow you to save to the current folder.

You may want to look at the URL of the image and if need be, change it to the folder that you have your .htm document, or you may also just copy your images into your folder as well.

Also, if you did the reinstall, how did that do?

Regards,

Joe

Hi Joe,

As always, thanks for your reply.

I remember the "Save Embedded Files screen". It doesn't appear anymore.

I uninstalled and and reinstalled FrontPage and the same thing. Infact, I backup my drive with Acronis, formated (wipe) the drive and reinstalled the Operating System and Office, including FrontPage and the same thing.

Strange.

Thanks again for your replies.

Have a nice day.

Regards,

Hi Joe,

Me again.

I went into my wife's PC and copied "My Web Sites" folder within there was "private, vti cnf, vti private, images, etc. and place it on my laptop and now it's working fine.

Who installs this folder, Windows or FrontPage?

As mentioned before, thanks for your replies.

Regards,

Al

Hi Al,

Glad to hear that your computer is ok again.

The My Webs folder is actually created by Frontpage.

Why this happened in the first place is still a little mystery and I have been looking at the private, vti cnf, vti items just yesterday. I know that depending on what version of MDAC you have on your system has a lot to do with it.

Either way, I am glad you got it working again.

Have a great day also,

Take Care,

Joe
