Hi all, my old harddrive recently crashed, so i bought a new one and copied my old files (from backup discs) to the new harddrive, i re-installed XP and installed all of the programs i regularly use, such as realplayer, shareaza, itunes, etc... I also downloaded all the drivers i needed for my motherboard, audio, modem, etc. I set up my internet account and started using it, but it has been going crazy with spyware... the actual computer when offline is running sluggish, but not horrible... but as soon as i connect its problems everywhere. i dont have google searhbar, which i heard is horrible for spyware and problems. I had a spyware internet toolbar with i seem to have gotten rid of called 'Toolbar888', which was the first one i noticed when i got online for the first time. But i have also downloaded alot of spyware and virus protectors including: ad-aware, spybot, avg free, spy sweeper and ewido anti-malware, i thought this would have stopped some of the problems, but it appears to not be doing much at all. I fequently check for a remove trojans and little viruses using all these programs, but i still get the errors. i just about ready to re-install windows it annoys me so much. But i thought i ask you guys to see if you could figure out what was causing the actual problem.

There are multiple problems i get, such as my explorer (even though the homepage is set as yahoo.com) always loads into a site called www.uptodateprotection.com which also brings up a warning reading:
"Warning!

M32.Myzor.FK@yf is a virus that infects files with .exe extentions. It attempts to steal passwords and private information from the infected computer."

it goes on to say a bit more aswell.. also the www.uptodateprotection.com page itself reads:
"System Security Status: Warning
Attention! Your system is currently vulnerable to computer attacks. Remote intruders can gain access to following files and folders on your PC:
- \Windows\System32
- \Program Files\Internet Explorer
- \My Documents
- Drive C:\ files
To enhance the security on your PC Download and run Intrusion Detection System (IDS software)

And also another problem i have is when i am browsing through websites, it seems pretty randomly i recieve an error message, which i know other people on this site have had problems with reading:
"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C/Program Files/Internet Explorer/iexplore.exe
This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information"

They resolved the problem by uninstalling GOogle seachbar, but i never had that installed in the first place..

Another error message i recieve is:
"NOTICE: If your computer has been running slower than normal, it may be infected with viruses, adware or spyware.

WinAntiVirus can perform a quick and completely FREE scan of your system for malicious programs

Download WinAntiVirus FREE now!"

And there are a few other messages and spyware that comes up, but these are the main offenders. Ill post my Hijack this log below. I love to hear from you guys with what you think. what is causing the spyware, and why arent my upto date virus protection software stopping it, or are the programs themselves causing it? (cause i know that spysweeper will often bring up an error message saying that ewido is trying to change system files or something, not to sure) or and they possibly hindering explorer itself. So yeah, any help would be greatly appreciated as re-installing windows and reloading all my files will take me a long time lol. thanks

Also i noticed that after i installed a program called "Proppellorheads: Reason" which is music software, that alot of spyware programs were picking up things from that, but i removed that now.. but maybe it originally effected my computer. because all of the other programs i have installed, were all previously installed on my old hardrive with never had this problem, at all. only new programs i have installed/downloaded was 'Reason', the drivers for my hardrive, audio, video and modem, and directx.

Thanks guys, hope to hear what you guys think soon.

Dear cvas,

Do you know what a firewall is? Are you aware of the possible malware consequences of P2P filesharing? Please go to this page, and follow the directions carefully.

http://www.geekstogo..._Log-t2852.html

Take the time to read some of the pinned topics while the scans are running so that when the malware experts help you, you will be able to learn how to prevent these kinds of problems in the future. After your system is clean, you are welcome to post back into this thread if you have any problems. Thank you and good luck.
