I've tried to download all suggested, but stymied in an endless loop. Totally ridiculous. I am SERIOUSLY contemplating prosecution to the full extent of the law. Here's my HiJack log.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, ProsecuteTrojans. :whistling:

Welcome to Geeks to go.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Warning : running option #2 on a non infected computer in Normal Mode will remove your Desktop background.

Hi, ProsecuteTrojans. :whistling:

Please print these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reference while in Safe Mode.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.

A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along with a fresh Hijackthis log.

The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Hi, ProsecuteTrojan :whistling:

First, thanks again for showing some light at the end of the tunnel....!
Second, the file *delfile* , commond 04 was NOT on the list to be checked and deleted, fyi.
3rd, please clarify as to attaching 'log file' or cut n paste into this or future replies, i really am NOT that bright....lol
Fourth, thanks again, besides, the invoice, im sure, is well worth it to get these CREEPS.

Copy and Paste is when you Highlight the text, right click on the text and select Copy, then move to the location you need that text copy to, right click and select Paste. You have been doing this with the Hijackthis log. Were you able to use Killbox?

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A4F94C0C-54A7-4DB1-9AF3-B22E63D00311} - C:\WINDOWS\g2950250.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winhoo32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winhoo32.dll

Now close all windows and browsers, other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

Close Hijackthis.
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\System32\winhoo32.dll
    c:\windows\system32\f3pssavr.scr
    c:\windows\system32\toolbar.exe

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

Open Notepad. Select Format from the menu. Make sure Wordwrap is checked. Close Notepad.

Very good, i need those 'baby steps', professor.

I double verified that those file were deleted thru the killBox log. I noticed my initial error by NOT copying from clipboard, humbling. No message on reboot. Wordwrap was already checked in NP. Thanx again.

Hi, ProsecuteTrojans :whistling:

Sorry for the delay, but somehow I never received a notification on your last reply.

Please go to the Add/Remove Programs option in the Control Panel and Remove ALL previous versions of JAVA and its updates. Then, please click here to download the latest version of JAVA 1.5.0.07. and install the application. If you experience problems with the Auto install from the site, click on Manual Download for the Offline Bundle.

Seems that you removed Yahoo Antivirus. If you did, please click Here for AVG Free and install the program.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O8 - Extra context menu item: &Viewpoint Search - res://C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Toolbar\ViewBar.dll/CXTSEARCH.HTML
O20 - Winlogon Notify: winhoo32 - winhoo32.dll (file missing)

Now close all windows and browsers, other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked.

Close Hijackthis.

Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following (if present):

Viewpoint Toolbar
Viewpoint Media Player

Please note any other programs that you dont recognize in that list in your next response

Using Windows Explorer (to get there right-click your Start button and go to "Explore"), please delete these folders (if present):

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint

Restart the computer.

The rest of the log looks clear. How is the computer doing?

Hi, ProsecuteTrojans. :whistling:

In addition:

Run Killbox.exe. Paste the following locations into Killbox one at a time. Checkmark the box that says "Delete on Reboot" and checkmark the box "Unregister DLL" (If available) Click the RED X and it will ask you to confirm the file for deletion…say YES and when the next box opens prompting you to reboot now...click no...and proceed with the next file. Once you get to the last one click YES and it will reboot.

C:\Program Files\Common Files\{BCD8BE8F-0702-1033-1217-020801030001}

Please click here to download the latest version of JAVA 1.5.0.08. and Install the application. If you experience problems with the Auto install, click on Manual Download for the Offline Bundle.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
  • When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.
  • Please also post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt on your next reply.
