NickKeenan,

I'm not sure what you're asking. You've created topics in the malware forum in the past, so I assume you don't need help with that. Did you have a question about something else?

Yes.. I've raised new topics in the past and I was baffled when I could not see, no matter how hard I looked, I could not see any button or menu or whatever labelled 'new topic' or similar. I don't know what it is about GTG, but its gui is a challenge no matter how many times I visit it. Like 'reply' there's more than one 'reply' and they have different meanings (I think) or different handling, etc.

OK, now that we're talking, I've got a super-strange symptom on my XP desktop machine. I am presently using a newly acquired Windows 7 Lenovo laptop to speak with you because I can't use the XP because of the symptom, which is, I can't get it to connect to the internet. But the really strange part is this, after I boot up XP (takes a while - lots of programs), it grinds almost to a halt. And I haven't done anything yet. Ie, I haven't tried to connect to the internet, or played Hearts, or anything. But task manager shows me a service routine, svchost.exe, hogging 99% cpu - steady solid green. There are other instances of svchost.exe running, but just one of them hogs the CPU. This just surfaced recently in the last 24 hours or so. When I try to lower its priority it gives me access denied. In order to do any work, I have to shut it down, but then I can't go online - so it seems to be an network service routine.

Rarely I can connect to the internet, and launch my email client (Thunderbird) but it is agonizingly slow of course with only 1% of the CPU available. I did see your email msg asking why I couldn't make a new topic, but when I clicked on the link you provided it just hung forever. So that's why I'm hooking up to you from my Windows 7 machine.

So I'm in a fix.. how do I get GTG to help me when I can't connect with GTG on the machine experiencing the symptom?
Any ideas, please?

My #36 post can be closed. The svchost.exe hogging my XP cpu turns out to be a microsoft automatic update bug.
The fix is to disable automatice updates for the time being until MS ships a proper fix.
Just thought I'd let GTG know..

Yesterday I downloaded a demo of a software called QuestSuite Pro II and I installed in windows XP and Windows 7, but when I connect the SoundPro DL Sonometer i download the information and when I want to open it at excell, shows all kind of trash in the spreadsheet. Some one knows why? I had intalled this software in windows 2000, but the PC crashed, when the software read the information I downloaded from  my sonometer had two installed options at the menu START then PROGRAMS then QUEST TECHNOLOGIES and then appear two options: 1- Quest Suite Professional II and  second option SOUND PRP SES TRANSLATOR, and now in windows XP and windows 7 the second option does not appear. DSome one help meplease because I am desesperated.... Thanks all

I am attempting to connect my analog TV with composite connections to my Dell Vostro 1000 laptop with VGA connections to use the TV as an external monitor.  I have a VGA to Video Converter adapter box. The sound works perfectly.  When I first turn everything on both screens show boxes made out of colored lines for about a second then both screens go black.  Then the laptop shows the correct picture but the TV stays black. I do not have an expresscard will that make a difference?  Thanks

I have already uninstalled to driver and reinstall the driver updated the driver Etc but I continue to get the same code can anyone please help thank you
