This is wierd.

We have a new PC that was built for us; Pentium 4 CPU, 3.06 GHz, 512MB RAM.

Nothing too special on it, Windows XP (without service pack 2) DVD & CD writer and standard keyboard. Everything runs OK, but if you use the keyboard for any program (internet explorer, notepad, anything..) whilst playing an audio track, it creates a small break in the audio for each time the key is pressed. If you are typing a sentence, it has a 'time-stretching' effect on the audio, s-l-o-w-i-n-g it right down

Its not the audio player cos I've tried a few different ones, and trying a BBC micro emulator today I realised holding down a key during a game produced the same slowing down effect on game play.

As you can imagine this is pretty annoying as you can't listen to MP3s and browse the net at the same time.

Any ideas?

A faulty, special keyboard driver might be the cause....if you would run a hijackthis and post a log, we can take a look

For Media Player click tools then options then performance, change buffer to 30 seconds then press apply, this will cause it to take longer to start playing but should lessen the effect of the browser

GerryF, The keyboard model is PS2. I have run the hijackthis and it is posted below...

Keith, Im afraid that didn't help, as I was saying, I have tried a few audio programs and the same thing occurs, it also slows down the BeebEm emulator, and internet TV through WinAmp, so its not a problem just with the media players.
