Downloaded the Sygate 5.6 build 2808 since most other free firewalls do not support Windows ME.

When we hit the ctrl alt delete keys to see what is running we find that Smc is not responding. If we remove it from our startup in the system area it doesn't let the firewall automatically load and so it is either not responding or giving the illusion of not running.

Is there a better firewall (for free please) that will work with ME, we know that the firewall we have have is outdated.

[font=Comic Sans Ms]I too have had many problems with firewalls that will run properly with WINME. I have been running the Kerio personnel firewall with good results for the last six weeks,I have found it both very secure and after set up practically :whistling: invisible.

Hi, I use Sygate too, and when I press the" ctrl alt delete" keys it says, "Smc is not responding", but I'm shure it is, I get notifications of attacks etc, so it must be. I tried to download the "Kerio personnel firewall", but it is only for Windows 2000 or XP, and will not install on ME.
