fatal error reinstall winxp - cd ck'd clean

I am trying to install windowx xp home edition on my Gateway laptop. I was getting a cyclic redundancy check error. I downloaded the CD check program as geeks to go suggestion. The results are listed below. The CD is clean. What else can I check?

are you trying to install or reinstall?

Have you cleaned your cd-rom reader?

I assume the above test was done a different machine?

This CD is what...windows xp cd or recovery cd from gateway?
