playstation problem

ok heres the problem my uncle has a playstation 2 for about 5-6 years now and everytime you input a game it takes at least 5-10 minutes to load and i mean it takes really, really long to load

anyone got any ideas of whats wrong with it

Does it that a long time for the ps2 to see that it's a game? Or a long time in the loading screen?

I had an xbox that the lens was really dirty and it wouldn't even start to load the game. Maybe you have a dirty lens or one going bad (if it 5-6 Yrs. old). Maybe run a cleaning disk.
