I can't seem to get rid of this statcounter cookie and Panda Activescan flaged some files as suspicious but I was unable to send to the lab.

* Although we don't want to get tracking cookies, as far as threats go, they are not that high on the chart. We all get them from time to time
Read what a tracking cookie is here and how to block many of them:

http://www.mvps.org/...002/cookies.htm

If you have Spybot installed, you can use it's imminize feature to block a lot of them too.

I do understand your concern, but don't get yourself too worked up over them.

I'm not sure about the dtaplugin.exe file, but I think it is harmless. The scan says it is a "Possible Virus". That doesn't mean it is. I'll see what I can find on that file. I don't think you have any real infection, but go ahead and do the following:

* Open Hijack This and click on the "Open the Misc Tools section" button. Click on the "Open Uninstall Manager" button. Click the "Save List" button. After you click the "Save List" button, you will be asked where to save the file. Pick a place to save it then the list should open in notepad. Copy and paste that list here.

* Go here and do the BitDefender online virus scan.
  • Click "I Agree" to agree to the EULA.
  • Allow the ActiveX control to install when prompted.
  • Click "Click here to scan" to begin the scan.
  • Please refrain from using the computer until the scan is finished.
  • When the scan is finished, click on "Click here to export the scan results"
  • Save the report to your desktop then come back here and attach it to your next reply along with a new Hijack This log..

Please disregard my posts in those other threads about duplicates. I was mistaken. I thought they were started this morning within minutes of this one.

I apologize if I caused you any embarrassment! :whistling:

I would post another Hijack log but I've already uninstalled Desktop Author, I wasn't probably going to get around to using it much anyway and I've got rid of the cookie.
