xbox-old one- often screws up

hi.
i have this old x box, its about 3 years old now....anyway

i try to play games on it, and like it just says the disc is damaged or dirty

and i know its not the disc

i just bought it.

it does it for all games too.

any ideas?

Your DVD-ROM drive that is in the XBOX probably is starting to go bad so i recommend going online and trying to see how much a replacement is online. Microsoft will most likely not have one.

Possibly. But I have the same problem w/ mine. and cleaning it out did not work.

Try this.

Open up the case (hoping that your warranty has expired)

Look for the lens where it reads your discs. Get a cotton swab and some rubbing alcohol and dip the cotton swab in the alcohol. Than GENTLY rub the cotton swab on the lens hoping that the lens was dirty and not damaged, hoping that it just needed a cleaning. Me and my buddies did this with my PS2 and it works like a charm again. Hopefully this will work with your Xbox.

Open the screws and lift off the case cover.

Torx screws will be needed, sizes 5 and 10.
