Welcome to Geeks to Go, str8dogg.
Ok, you have told me what type of monitor you have.
So now i need to know what kind of computer you have. Could you look on the outside of the case( the tower part) to see if there is a sticker somewhere that tells you what kind ( make) and type(model number) the computer is. I think your problem is that you do not have any video drivers installed on the computer. I say this because you say you wiped the drive and reinstalled Windows. Well, video drivers usually do not come with windows. So, we will have to find out what kind of video card you have and then go find the right drivers for it.
I wondeo if you can download a simple program and be able to send a text file to here from the program. This is not hard to do. Go here and download this program.

Run the program and send a text file you can make in the program on what hardware is on your computer. If you cannot seem to send the file here we can use e-mail for you to send it to me so i can look at it. If necessary i will talk you thru the process.

O.K. I have downloaded the program, but it is all Japanese to me. I am not sure how to send of the information that I am seeing. Nonetheless I will give you the information as I know it. Dell Dimension 2400. As I mentioned I did wipe the drive clean. Since my last post I have been able to fixe the resolution problem. As mentioned I had a driver that was not installed all the way (go figure). BUT I have a new problem (rather, problems...plural). 1) I cannot play cd's. I am being told that there isn't a sound card installed. I have gone into the Device Manger and can see some devices that have yellow question marks. I have tried to update the drivers but it isn't working. 2) I am getting pop ups telling me that I have multiple errors on on my harddrive and need to download a registry to clean it. What is the deal with that and could I get rid of it. I did download some type of registry software thinking it would help the other problems. Please help.

Download and install the first driver listed here:

The popups you are seeing are spyware. You need some good antispyware (and probably anti virus) software. I'll leave recommendations for those up to others, who are more software current than I am.
One thing to be sure of: never, ever click on anything that appears as a popup randomly, no matter what it says.

O.k. I have downloaded the file as given by Kurenai and SXR660. I am not sure what they are suppose to do, so I am ready for the next step. Thanks
