Hi, I am a newbie website builder using Macromedia suite.
I have updated a couple of sites adding buttons and affiliation banners.
I can see all the new information in dreamweaver, and proceed to upload to the site using smartFTP.
When I view the site, whether using Internet Explorer or Firefox, I cant see the new additions, but everybody else I ask to have a look can see them.
I have add/remove program the dreamweaver and re-installed 4 times. I have reloaded Windows XP twice, which was a recent update (from a copied program).
I have called Orange who is my ISP and they say it cant be them.
I have deleted cookies and files a dozen times.
I have just upgraded from IE6 to IE7 - no difference.
I have run out of ideas............Help ! ! ! :whistling:

Can you clarify what you mean here?

Do you see other websites normally?

Hi Johanna,

Months ago my hard disk crashed and I lost the Win 2000 Pro that came with the computer, I loaded a copy of Win XP from a friend :whistling: , while I discussed with Microsoft why I shouldnt have to pay for another copy. They kindly came through last week and sent me a fully legal version of Win XP Pro, which I loaded on Mon - Just before I started getting this problem.

Yes, I can see other sites normally....as far as I know.
I can see my sites, and everything works, but cant see ALL of the addition changes I have made. If you were to log onto the site you can see the additions, but I cant. EG I added an extra button called 'AFFILIATES' which links to a page with affiliate links on it. I cant see that button whether using IE6, IE7 or Firefox.

I cant test to see if this has been caused by the new WinXP as I cant load the old copy back on. It comes up with a message saying the installed version is newer than the copy and wont let me continue. Is it possible to delete WindowsXP Pro without losing all my files on the hard disk? ? ?

Any help greatfully received,

Yours,
Sandy

What Security apps do you have running. For example, Symantic's (Norton) blocks banners, ads type images, etc., by using a long list of words that generates the block. You have to go in and set your site to allow for those types of images. My sister uses Norton and I had a problem viewing my own site at first. Since I use ZoneAlarm on my own PC, I don't have that problem. Plus I put my own site on all the Allowed list in IE 7 and Firefox. PM your site's URL and I'll look. Might find something.

Ronbelieveable ! ! !
After a week of trying everything so many times - The culprit? ? ZoneAlarm.......
I had switched it off and tried before and it made no diff but this time it did.
In the Privacy section (from the left hand side button) Ad-blocking (middle) was set on high - blocking banners..........duh....
It quite strange that it also blocked the other layers/buttons added/compiled after the banner advert - but anyway......Setting Ad-blocking to medium has sorted it out -
Thanks so much for the pointer.
Regards,
