ping problems

I am using a dell lap top top network printers and scanners. When I go to the command promp and enter the ip address it changes when I hit enter. Example, I enter ping 192.165.120.040 but when i press enter the computer says pinging 192.165.120.030 . Any explanation would be appreciated.

Perhaps you are trying to ping something that isn't there.
Where did you get this IP?

This may be an IP redirecting to another. Try it as 192.165.120.40 instead of 192.165.120.040.
