My Mac won't install my Lexmark X83 printer

I have tried everything i know how, but this iMac acts like i haven't plugged in a printer at all. I have installed the software with no problems. When i try to print it tells me no printer selected. I try to add a printer to the printer list. It detects printer software, then asks if i want to reload the browser? That's the end of that. Can you help?
