Azereus on Vista

I recently bought a new laptop with Windows Vista on it, on my old XP computer I used to do a lot of music and video downloads using a Bittorent client Azureus. Now that I have Vista I thought things would run seamlessly, however that is not the case. When I installed Azureus the internet would completely lock up and not go one way or another, this happened the same when I installed other P2P programs such as LimeWire, utorrent and BitTorrent. My question to you is do you have any idea how I can fix my problem, I'm not the most computer literate person out there so I'd have no idea how to phrase this other than this: I want to download things on my computer without any stress, can you help me?
